History of Iota Triton

From Concept to Colony:

Iota Triton at Umass Dartmouth

It all began with a statement: Lets start a fraternity.

One night at Umass Dartmouth, undergrads James Newton, Devin Cavanagh, and Ryan Libby were hanging out watching Van Wilder when James blurted out the sentence that would soon become an enormous task. Most of the time when people say things like that they do not follow up on it. James and the others did. At first they approached two friends, Jay Dias and Kevin Pellisier, who have also become founding fathers. The group was looking for a fraternity with strong New England representation and discovered that Theta Delta Chi not only met that requirement, but also was headquartered up in Boston. A few weeks later they contacted the Charge consultant, Adam McCready at the CFO and expressed interest in forming a new charge at The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.

In early November the group met with Adam to learn more about Theta Delta Chi. Soon after the meeting the group petitioned the Grand Lodge to become a colony of the fraternity, with the Grand Lodge accepting this petition during their December meeting.

After winter break the founding fathers began to look for others interested in becoming members of a new fraternity. Through a diligent recruitment process the members found five amazing men: Jesse Correia, Bennett Stusse, Patrick Huegel, Adam Barkley, and Lee Leshefsky, who became their first new members of the Iota Triton colony. They were all given their bids and pinned with the Theta Delta Chi pledge button, officially entering them into the colony. Things were up and running at quite a quick pace.
